Black and white has a timeless quality that makes it challenging to compare with color photography. It brings people back and can help give your photos that dramatic or classic feel, which is likely the reason so many people connect to black and white street photography. It reminds them of the past and creates nostalgia. The goal of this class is to bring out that timeless and nostalgic feel.

The 50mm lens is one of the flexible and useful lenses in any photographer’s gear bag. It is neither a wide-angle or telephoto lens, but allows the camera to see on the same scale as your eye. As such, it can be used for a variety of styles, from landscape and street photography to portrait and product photography. In this meetup, we’ll review the basic camera settings. We’ll then cover some of the advantages of shooting with a prime lens, and some basic techniques to using the 50mm lens. As always, there will be ample opportunities for you to put your new knowledge into practice.

I loved it! The class size was just right so you had enough of the different skill sets that I (beginner) didn't feel intimidated. Andrea was welcoming, helpful and a good teacher who was very flexible to make sure everyone got something out of it. Was easy to get to for me (from the beach), good time (10-1 was the class but 9-12 would have worked as well) and lots of parking! The cost was appropriate because of what was received as well. I was really pleased.

Jaime did a great job setting up the class and showing examples or her work. I don't think that learning the Granny Square was appropriate for a beginning crochet class, however.
